Introducing the Integrated Perinatal Fitness Specialist Course
For more than twenty years, Bump Wellness has done one thing: help pregnant and postpartum women move safely, confidently, and strongly. Today, we're putting that entire approach into the hands of fitness professionals everywhere.

We're proud to announce the Integrated Perinatal Fitness Specialist course, a comprehensive, evidence-informed continuing education program designed for trainers, coaches, and instructors who want to work skillfully with clients throughout the perinatal journey, from the first trimester through postpartum recovery and beyond.
The course is NASM-approved and AFAA-approved, and carries 1.9 NASM CEUs.
Why we built it
Pregnancy and postpartum represent the most significant physical transition most of your clients will ever go through, and the fitness industry has been underprepared for it. Most certifications devote a single line, or a single slide, to pregnancy. That leaves talented trainers guessing: modifying on instinct, second-guessing every symptom, or avoiding prenatal and postpartum clients altogether because the stakes feel too high.
That gap is exactly what this course closes. Instead of a list of rules to memorize and exercises to avoid, it gives you a clear, criteria-based framework for making confident decisions, so you understand not just what to do, but why.
What you'll learn
The curriculum is built progressively, starting with the physiology that explains what's actually happening inside a changing body, then layering in programming, coaching, and applied practice. By the end, you'll be able to:
- Understand and apply the core-pelvic floor "canister" model to breathing, pressure management, and real-world exercise coaching.
- Recognize contraindications and warning signs, and apply safety guidelines to every prenatal and postpartum session.
- Design trimester-specific programs guided by rate of perceived exertion, symptoms, and recovery rather than a one-size-fits-all template.
- Tell the difference between medical clearance and functional readiness, and build postpartum progressions that respect real recovery, not just the calendar.
That last point is at the heart of everything we teach. A postpartum six-week clearance date is not the same as being functionally ready to load, run, or jump. Learning to tell the difference and to coach accordingly is what separates a good perinatal trainer from a guessing one.
Grounded in the evidence
This isn't opinion or trend. The course is grounded in current, respected guidance, including ACOG Committee Opinion 804, the 2019 Canadian guideline on physical activity throughout pregnancy, and the contemporary return-to-running framework developed by Goom, Donnelly, and Brockwell. It was developed in collaboration with OB-GYNs, pelvic floor physical therapists, and perinatal mental health professionals, so the framework respects the whole client, not just the workout.
About the instructor
The course was created by Jason Keigher, CSCS, founder of Bump Wellness. Jason established one of the earliest dedicated prenatal personal training practices in New York City in 2003 and now serves the Coachella Valley. With more than 25 years in the fitness industry, including work with medically complex clients at Eisenhower Health and advanced perinatal and DONA birth doula training, this course represents his complete clinical and coaching framework, refined over decades of direct work with pregnant and postpartum clients.
Who is it for
If you're a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, or coach who wants to serve this population with genuine skill, this course is for you. And if you're an expecting or new parent yourself, it's the standard of care you can now look for and expect from the professionals you trust with your body.
